What's that "keystroke logger" thing?

In its basic meaning, the "keystroke logging" refers to the action of logging (recording) the computer keyboard usage (typically in a secret manner). The basic usage of Spytector keystroke logger

Spytector consists from 2 parts: "Spytector.exe" (the main program) and the "module.exe" file (the actual keylogger). From the main Spytector program you have to build a "module" (see "Build Module" button) with the settings you want (log size, email delivery etc.) and that "module" must be run/doubleclicked on the computer you want to monitor.

So, to start the monitoring you have to doubleclick/run the "module" file (it's not enough to only build it) on the computer you want to monitor. After doubleclicking/running the "module" file, the "module" is auto-copying in the system and runs from there in stealth mode.

IMPORTANT: the "module" file should NOT be run with administrator privileges (Rightclick -> Run As Administrator), the correct installation is with just a doubleclick.

The settings speak for themselves mostly and you can keep the default values. What needs to be configured is the email (or FTP) option, used for receiving the logs. In the case you have permanent access to the monitored computer then you don't need the feature to email the logs as the logs can be retrieved from the main application (click "Retrieve Local Log" -> "Automatically Retrieve The Logs").

When configuring the email option, you can use a Yahoo account on "Send Email From" and a Gmail account on "Send Email To". The SMTP for Yahoo is smtp.mail.yahoo.com and it works with port 465. Of course, the best option for log delivery is to use paid-for email accounts - the paid-for accounts are more reliable than the free ones.
